Project Lead The Way is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education curricular programs used in middle and high schools across the U.S.
The Engineering New Mexico Resource Network in the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University has served as the NM PLTW Affiliate since 2006. As the state affiliate, Engineering New Mexico oversees the PLTW Summer Core Teacher Training programs, held specifically to train PLTW teachers from across the state in this highly effective curriculum. NMSU also hosts the annual NM PLTW Teacher Conference each fall.
PLTW’s comprehensive curriculum for engineering, bio-medical engineering, and computer science has been collaboratively designed by PLTW teachers, university educators, engineering and biomedical professionals and school administrators to promote critical thinking, creativity, innovation and real-world problem-solving skills in students. In 2016, the NM Public Education Department formerly adopted PLTW programs of study as a resource to help schools strengthen career technical education across the state, specifically among schools receiving Carl D. Perkins funding, http://www.ped.state.nm.us/ped/CCR_perkins.html.
Other notable changes include a new partnership between PLTW and the AP College Board, https://www.pltw.org/our-programs/ap-pltw
